Mac OS X – Install uPyCraft IDE Linux Ubuntu – Install uPyCraft IDE With uPyCraft IDE installed in your computer, you can easily flash your ESP32 or ESP8266 boards with the MicroPython firmware. This post is divided in two parts, read Part 1 or Part 2 depending on your board. Viisit python.org and download Python 3.7 64 bit for mac os x. Once the download is complete open the package to install Python. Install uPyCraft IDE. Development will be uPyCraft. Click on the link below to down uPyCraft. Download uPyCraft. Open the zip file and copy uPyCraft to the Applications folder. Download Micropython Firmware.

  • If you want to program the ESP32 Development board or ESP8266 ESP-12E module using the MicroPython firmware, we recommend using uPyCraft IDE. UPyCraft IDE runs in any major operating system. In this project we show you how to install the uPyCraft IDE for MicroPython on Windows OS, Mac OS X.
  • Finally, restart Thonny IDE. To install Thonny on your Linux computer, it depends on your Linux distribution and version, follow the next instructions for your system. Send the following commands to light up the on-board LED. Or if you installed Thonny IDE using pip3, you can type in your terminal window: ESP32/ESP8266 flashed with MicroPython.

Right now I don’t plan to write any tutorials about MicroPython, because the whole course and most of my readers are only interested in Arduino IDE. But I might create tutorials about that subject in the future.
