DownloadX ActiveX Download Control is a programming tool that developers may use to integrate a powerful download manager into their software applications.
The interface of the download manager is modern and intuitive. It does not come packed with configuration settings, so it can be handled by all types of users, even the ones with limited or no experience in such tools.
During a file download, the user may view current and total size, speed, and remaining time. It is also possible to pause and resume the current task, as well as to cancel it or add a new one by pointing out a URL.
DownloadX can be implemented into scripting languages, such as JavaScript or VBSCript. Coding details are shown in an online help file, so make sure to check it out before using the tool.
Note that, since DownloadX is an ActiveX control, the corresponding DLL file must be added to the Windows Registry. This is automatically done when installing the package, but it is possible to unregister it as well.
We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation, as DownloadX did not cause the OS to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. All in all, DownloadX ActiveX Download Control is a welcomed addition to any developer's utility belt.
